Eastleigh Care Homes have been busy completely redesigning the rooms in our Minehead flexible Care Wing. After knocking down walls and enlarging the whole room, revamping the bathroom with a lovely tiled wet room and finishing off with some modern furniture to finish the room. Just look at the view. If the views aren’t enough, take a look at the the lovely modern paint job and furniture. With plenty of wardrobe/cupboard space for all your belongings. Just imagine sitting in those high back chair, sipping on your drink of choice☕️ and enjoying those views.

Lockdown and Loneliness

Following government guidance on key workers avoiding public transport, Mr. Wilson and Eastleigh Care Homes took the opportunity to purchase bikes for any member of staff who wanted one. Then came the challenge of obtaining everyone’s measurements to ensure they had the correct sized bike and helmet. Once we had all the information we were able to finalise the order and ensure all the bikes had the appropriate safety equipment. Finally yesterday we managed to deliver the first lot of Bikes to the Minehead home. After the handover we’ve had lots of happy staff who have showed there gratitude to Mr Wilson and Eastleigh care Homes.

Nearly 5 million people over the age of 65 believe they have been targeted by scammers, just under half of the population in this age group. Worryingly, it’s not just a financial problem, but has devastating mental and physical effects. Being a victim of a scam has detrimental effects on confidence and independence. It can leave the individual feeling ashamed, embarrassed, and frailer than they were before the experience. In fact, the physical and mental effects are so marked that individuals defrauded in their own homes are two and a half times as likely to either die, or go into residential care, within a year of the event.

Eastleigh Care homes would like to thank all the local communities for the kind offers of help and supplies. We’ve had many offers at this difficult time of people offering to help in any way they can. Recently we had a member of the local community make special headbands that our support workers are able to attache their face masks to. Instead of looping them behind their ears, which can cause a lot of discomfort after long periods of time. As you can or cant see(as they are wearing face masks????) in the photo they are very happy with them. We have also had a kind lady drop off 60 home made scrub bags for staff so they can be transporting their uniform home safely – made and donated by people in the Minehead community ????.
