This afternoon, we gathered for our monthly service with Rev Andy Jarvis and reflected on a story from Mark’s Gospel about Jesus and caregiving. ✝️
Jesus healed Simon Peter’s mother-in-law. She didn’t ask to be healed herself, others spoke for her. Yet Jesus took her hand, lifted her up, and she was made well. Her first response was to begin caring for those around her.
It reminded us how natural it is to want to give back when we’ve received help. Caring flows both ways, and for many of our residents who spent years looking after others are now receiving care themselves
We were also reminded through the poem “To Be of Use” that people are made for meaningful work and service. Even when the work of our lives may have gone unnoticed or unthanked, it still had value. The poem tells us that the “pitcher cries for water to carry and a person for work that is real.”
In the same way, we reflected that every act of love, patience, and kindness matters. Whether through busy hands, a listening ear, a smile, or a prayer, we are still serving others and in doing so, serving God.
We were grateful to share this special time of reflection, faith, and community together, and we closed our time in prayer. ✝️

A lovely afternoon with Erwan today 💛 We enjoyed listening to“Waltzing Matilda” aswell as many other songs 🎶
It’s known as Australia’s unofficial national anthem 🇦🇺 and tells the story of a travelling worker, or swagman. Such a wonderful song for bringing back memories and smiles 😊
